In the 1950s silica was used only in France and only in injections or as a food supplement. Dr. Libi Hershkovich, being a chemist and a practicing dermatologist (and thus fully and accurately realizing the benefits of this active ingredient for human skin), set out to develop an easily absorbable water-based silica gel to be used topically on eyelids.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"product-text\"\u003eHistorically silica was extracted from bamboo, wheat husk or by drying and grinding seaweed – and was used to heal small wounds or bites. Being the second most common element of the earth crust after oxygen, silica is present in all human tissue. It is important for collagen and elastin synthesis and, therefore, supports skin firmness and is responsible for skin rejuvenation. Silica helps normalize hydration and regeneration processes and boosts the skin’s immunity. Silica can decrease puffiness and the appearance of dark circles – it brightens, hydrates and regenerates the skin and creates a noticeable lifting effect.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"product-text\"\u003eHorse Chestnut extract, another important component of this product, is a well-known tonic for blood vessels and capillaries.
